Should I hire a freelance developer, an agency or an in-house team?+
A freelancer fits when you want one senior person who owns the whole build and you would rather not pay for account managers and handovers. An agency fits when you need several people working in parallel from day one. In-house fits once the product is your business and needs someone full time, for years. I have written up how to choose between the three, and the twelve questions to ask any freelancer before you sign.
I am in the US. Does the time difference get in the way?+
Less than you would expect, because the work does not depend on meetings. The scope, price and timeline are written down before anything starts, you get a live link to watch the product take shape, and I reply within a day. Most of my clients are outside India, so this is the normal way I work, not an exception.
How do payments work?+
A 20% deposit to start. After that you pay for each piece of work after you have seen it working, and the last payment is due when the project is live and doing what the written plan said. Bank transfer or another method we agree on. If you stop, you pay only for finished work. The full terms are on the terms page.
Who owns the code?+
You do. Your domain, hosting and app store accounts are set up in your name from day one, and code is handed over as it is written. I am happy to sign your NDA before you share anything sensitive, and if we stop working together there is no exit fee.
What will it cost?+
It depends far more on scope than on hours, so the honest answer is a range. The estimator gives you one in a minute, and the written quote comes before any work starts. If you need a custom CRM or an online store, the CRM and e-commerce pages go into the specifics, and off-the-shelf or custom covers when not to build at all.
