The small print, in plain English
Terms
These terms apply when you use this website or hire me for a project. I’ve kept them short and in plain English. If we sign a separate written agreement for your project, that agreement wins wherever the two are different.
Last updated:
01Who is who
“I”, “me” and “my” means Dev, an independent freelancer based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. “You” means anyone using this website, or the person or business hiring me.
02Using this website
- You are welcome to browse, read and share links to this site.
- Please don’t copy the design, text or code of this site for your own website or portfolio.
- Please don’t try to break, overload or misuse the site.
- Projects shown here belong to their owners. See the Disclaimer for details.
03Quotes and the written plan
- The estimator on this site is a rough range, not an offer.
- Work starts only after we both agree to a written plan by email or WhatsApp. It says what’s included, what isn’t, the price and the rough timeline.
- Anything not in the written plan is not included. If you want something extra, I’ll tell you the price and time first, and it only goes ahead when you say yes.
- The number of rounds of changes for each piece is written in the plan.
04Payments
- A 20% deposit to start.
- After that, you pay per piece of work, after you’ve seen that piece working.
- The last payment is due when the project is live and doing what the written plan said.
- Invoices are due within 7 days. If a payment is late, I may pause work until it’s paid.
- You can pay by bank transfer, UPI or another method we agree on.
- Outside costs such as domain, hosting, app store accounts, paid plugins, APIs and AI usage are paid by you, directly in your own name.
- If you stop the project, you pay only for work finished up to that point. If your deposit is more than that, I refund the difference.
05Your part
- Send the content, logins and feedback the project needs. When things arrive late, the timeline moves by the same amount.
- Make sure you have the right to use any text, photos, logos or data you give me.
- If I don’t hear from you for 30 days, I may pause the project and invoice the work finished so far. We can pick it up again when you’re ready.
06Who owns the work
- Your domain, hosting, app store and other accounts are set up in your name from day one.
- Code is handed over as it’s written. Once you’ve paid for a piece of work, you own the rights to it.
- I keep the right to reuse my general know-how, tools and small pieces of code that are not specific to your business.
- Open-source libraries and paid third-party tools stay under their own licences.
- I won’t show your project in my portfolio or anywhere public without asking you first.
07Privacy and confidential information
- I keep your business information private and don’t share it with anyone who doesn’t need it for your project.
- I don’t sell your data, and I don’t use it to train AI models.
- I’m happy to sign your NDA before you tell me anything sensitive.
- When we finish, I remove my access and delete my copies of your data.
08Stopping
- Either of us can stop the project at any time by telling the other in writing (email or WhatsApp is fine).
- You pay for work finished up to that point, and you keep all of it.
- I hand over everything, write down anything only I know, and remove my access. There is no exit fee.
09Support after launch
- Bugs are free to fix for the period written in the plan. A bug is something that doesn’t work the way the plan said it would.
- New features, design changes and problems caused by later changes made by someone else are not bugs, and are quoted separately.
- Ongoing monthly help is optional and agreed separately.
10What I’m not responsible for
I always do my best work, but some things are outside my control. As far as the law allows, I’m not responsible for:
- Outages or changes at outside services: hosting, app stores, payment gateways, email, APIs, AI providers and similar.
- App store or payment gateway rejections for reasons outside my control. I’ll still help you fix and resubmit.
- Problems caused by changes made by you or someone else after handover.
- Search rankings, AI answer placement, traffic or sales (see the Disclaimer).
- Indirect losses such as lost profit or lost business.
If something does go wrong because of my work, my total responsibility is limited to the amount you paid me for that project.
11If we disagree
Let’s talk first. Most problems are solved with one honest conversation.
If we still can’t agree, these terms follow the laws of India, and the courts in Ahmedabad, Gujarat will decide.
12Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time, and the date at the top will change. The terms in place when we agreed your written plan apply to your project.
