Clinic Website Checklist: What Patients Look For Before They Call

A plain-English checklist for dental, skin, physio and eye clinics in Ahmedabad — the details patients look for on your website, and what to keep out of it.

By Dev · · 4 min read

Before a patient calls your clinic, they check you out. Usually on their phone, usually at night, often while worried about something.

In about a minute, they decide whether you look trustworthy. Your website either answers their questions or sends them back to Google.

Here's what they're looking for, and what to keep out.

1. Can I trust this doctor?

This is the first question, even if they don't say it out loud.

  • Doctor's full name, photo and qualifications. Degrees, where they studied, years of practice.
  • Registration details where appropriate.
  • A short, human introduction. Not a list of awards. Who they are and how they treat patients.
  • Real photos of the clinic. Reception, treatment room, equipment. Not stock images of smiling models.

2. Do you treat my problem?

People search for problems, not specialities. "Tooth pain", "hair fall", "knee pain after running", "blurry vision".

  • A page for each main treatment or condition you handle.
  • In plain words: what it is, what the visit involves, how long it takes, roughly how many sessions.
  • No medical jargon without explanation.

These pages also help you show up on Google for the things patients actually type.

3. What will it cost?

Nobody expects an exact bill before a diagnosis. But complete silence on price makes people nervous.

  • Show the consultation fee.
  • For common procedures, give a starting from figure or explain what affects the cost.
  • Say whether you accept insurance or cashless, if relevant.

Being upfront here builds more trust than almost anything else.

4. When and where?

  • Timings for each doctor, including days off.
  • Address with a Google Map, a landmark and parking info. "Near Iskcon Cross Road" helps more than a pin alone.
  • Floor and lift details for older patients.
  • Every branch with its own timings, if you have more than one.

5. How do I book?

Put these on every page, not just "Contact".

6. Is it fast on my phone?

Most patients will see your site on a phone, often on mobile data. If it takes ages to load, they leave. Keep images compressed and the design simple.

What to keep out

Medical websites carry more responsibility than a cafe's. In India, doctors and dentists have professional rules about advertising and self-promotion. Check the current NMC, DCI or relevant council guidelines before you publish, and keep your website factual.

In general, avoid:

  • Promises of results. "Guaranteed cure", "100% success", "painless forever".
  • Misleading before-and-after photos.
  • Aggressive discount language for medical treatment.
  • Copied content from other clinics or health sites.
  • Patient details or photos without clear written consent.

A calm, honest website is more convincing anyway. Patients can tell the difference.

7. Help Google find you

  • Complete your Google Business Profile with the correct category, timings, photos and booking link.
  • Keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere: website, Google, listing platforms.
  • Ask satisfied patients, politely and without pressure, to leave a Google review. Never offer anything in return for one.
  • Add useful, factual articles answering common questions. "How often should I get a dental check-up?" is a good example.

Quick checklist

  1. Doctor names, photos, qualifications.
  2. A page per main treatment, in plain language.
  3. Consultation fee, and a sense of costs.
  4. Timings, map, landmark, parking, for every branch.
  5. WhatsApp, phone and booking on every page.
  6. Fast on mobile.
  7. Factual, no promises, follows your council's rules.

What it costs

A clinic website with a few treatment pages and a WhatsApp button is usually a straightforward project. Adding online booking or patient logins costs more. The estimator gives a rough range in a minute.
