How Salons in Ahmedabad Can Get More Google Reviews (Without Begging)

Most happy salon clients never leave a review because nobody made it easy. Simple, honest ways to get more Google reviews and show up for "salon near me".

By Dev · · 4 min read

Search "salon near me" in Satellite or Bopal. Look at the three salons Google shows at the top.

They're not always the best salons. They're usually the ones with the most recent, genuine reviews.

Your clients love you. They just never got around to saying it on Google. Let's fix that.

Why reviews matter more than you think

Two things happen when someone sees your salon on Google Maps:

  1. Google decides where to show you. Reviews are one of the signals it uses for local results.
  2. The person decides whether to trust you. Before they even look at your prices, they read what other people said.

A salon with a good number of recent, detailed reviews looks alive. A salon with eleven reviews from three years ago looks closed.

Why happy clients don't leave reviews

It's not that they don't like you. It's that:

  • Nobody asked.
  • Asking happened at the wrong moment, like while they were paying and in a hurry.
  • It took too many taps to find the review button.

So the job isn't begging. It's making it easy, at the right moment.

The right moment

The best moment is right after they see the result. When they look in the mirror and smile. Not at the billing counter, not three days later.

The second-best moment is a few hours later, when they're home and someone has complimented their hair.

Simple ways that actually work

1. A small QR code at the mirror

A neat card at each station: "Happy with your look? It takes 20 seconds to tell Google." The QR opens your review page directly.

2. A WhatsApp message later that day

If you have the client's number from the booking, send one short message:

Hi Priya, thank you for coming in today! If you have 20 seconds, a Google review really helps a small salon like ours: [link]

One message. No follow-up nagging.

3. Your staff ask, in person

A stylist saying "If you liked it, a review would mean a lot to me" works better than any sign. People want to help the person who just looked after them.

4. Reply to every review

Thank people by name. For a bad review, stay calm, apologise for the experience and offer to fix it. Future clients read how you handle problems. It builds more trust than a wall of five stars.

What not to do

I'll keep this short, because these can get your profile in trouble:

  • Don't buy reviews or ask friends to post fake ones.
  • Don't offer a discount only for five-star reviews. Ask for honest reviews, full stop.
  • Don't ask your whole WhatsApp list at once on the same day. It looks unnatural and it annoys people.

Slow and genuine wins.

Help Google understand your salon

Reviews work best when the rest of your profile is complete too:

  • The right category, such as "Beauty salon" or "Hair salon", and the services you actually offer.
  • Real photos: your chairs, your work, your team.
  • Correct hours, including festival days.
  • Your booking link and WhatsApp number.

I wrote a full walkthrough for cafes in how to get found on Google Maps in Ahmedabad. The steps are the same for salons.

Where a bit of tech helps

You can do everything above by hand. When you have a few hundred clients a month, it gets tiring.

A simple system can send the review message automatically after each appointment, only once per client, and track which stylists get the most reviews. That's a small add-on to a booking system, not a big project.

If you don't have a booking system yet, start with the QR cards and personal asks. They're free and they work.

The honest summary

  • Ask at the right moment.
  • Make it one tap.
  • Reply to everyone.
  • Never fake it.
