How to Get Your Cafe Found on Google Maps in Ahmedabad (Step-by-Step)

A practical Google Business Profile guide for cafes and small businesses in Ahmedabad — setup, photos, reviews and the small habits that move you up the map.

By Dev · · 4 min read

When someone in Bodakdev types "cafe near me" or "best coffee in Ahmedabad", Google shows a map with three businesses at the top. Those three get most of the clicks, calls and walk-ins. Everyone else is a scroll away.

The good news: getting into that list is not about big budgets. It's mostly about a free tool — your Google Business Profile — and a few habits done consistently.

Step 1: Claim and verify your profile

Search your cafe's name on Google Maps. If a listing exists, click "Own this business?" and claim it. If not, add it.

Google will ask you to verify that you're really the owner. Follow whatever method it offers — it may be a video of your storefront, a phone call or another option. Don't skip this; unverified profiles rank poorly and can be edited by anyone.

Step 2: Fill in everything, properly

Treat every field as important:

  • Business name: your real name, exactly as on your signboard. Don't stuff keywords like "Best Cafe Ahmedabad" into it — Google can suspend you for that.
  • Category: choose the most specific primary category (for example "Cafe" or "Coffee shop"), then add secondary ones that genuinely apply.
  • Address and pin: check the map pin is exactly on your entrance. In busy areas like CG Road or SG Highway, a wrong pin sends people to the wrong building.
  • Hours: including special hours for Diwali, Navratri and Uttarayan. Nothing annoys a customer more than a closed shutter.
  • Phone and WhatsApp: a number someone actually answers.
  • Menu and price range: upload your menu and keep it updated.
  • Attributes: Wi-Fi, outdoor seating, pure veg, Jain options, pet-friendly, wheelchair access — these match what people search for.

Step 3: Photos that make people hungry

Profiles with good photos get far more attention. Upload:

  • The outside of your cafe (so people recognise it from the road).
  • The interior in daylight and in the evening.
  • Your 5–10 best-selling items, shot close up in natural light.
  • Your team — people like to see who's behind the counter.

Add new photos every couple of weeks. A phone camera is fine; blurry, dark pictures are not.

Step 4: Reviews — the biggest lever

Reviews affect both your ranking and whether someone chooses you over the cafe next door.

How to get more:

  • Put a small QR code on the table or bill: "Enjoyed your visit? Leave us a Google review."
  • Ask happy regulars personally. Most people are glad to help a local place.
  • Send a polite WhatsApp message after an online order with a direct review link.

What not to do: don't buy fake reviews or offer discounts only in exchange for 5 stars. It breaks Google's rules and customers can usually tell.

Reply to every review — thank people for good ones, and respond calmly and helpfully to bad ones. Future customers read your replies.

Step 5: Post updates

Google Business Profile lets you publish posts: a monsoon menu, a weekend offer, a live music night. They don't take long and they show Google your profile is active.

Step 6: Keep your details the same everywhere

Your name, address and phone number should match exactly on Google, Zomato, Swiggy, Instagram, Justdial and your own website. Inconsistent details confuse both Google and customers.

Step 7: Have a simple website

A basic website helps Google trust your business and gives you a place to show your menu, story and booking or ordering options — without paying a platform. It also helps you show up when people ask AI assistants for recommendations. Link it from your profile.

It doesn't need to be expensive. A clean one-page site with your menu, location, hours and a WhatsApp button is enough to start. Use the cost estimator to see a rough price.

How long does it take?

Fixing your profile can show results within weeks. Reviews and photos build up over months. The cafes that win on Google Maps aren't doing anything magical — they're simply consistent.

Quick checklist

  1. Profile claimed and verified.
  2. Correct category, pin, hours and phone.
  3. Menu uploaded, attributes filled in.
  4. 20+ good photos, refreshed regularly.
  5. Review QR on tables, replies to every review.
  6. A post every week or two.
  7. Same details everywhere, plus a simple website.

If you'd rather have someone set this up properly for you — profile, photos plan, review QR codes and a simple website — I help cafes and small businesses across Ahmedabad do exactly that.
